- SYNOPSIS -
River:
It's been thirteen years since the war started, the bombs were dropped, and the central states became a thing of the past. When the war ended, a wall was erected to divide the surviving states from those destroyed. I never expected to go beyond the wall but unlike all the others who volunteered to go, I wasn't given a choice.
With a dim knowledge of what I could do, the soldiers came for me. They took me beyond the wall where I learned that the truth is far more terrifying than I'd ever dreamed. Alone, with humans and demons seeking to learn what it is I can do, I find myself irresistibly drawn to the one man I should be avoiding most. One who intrigues and infuriates me. One who is not even a man, not really.
Kobal:
My entire life, I've had only one mission, reclaim my throne from Lucifer and put right everything that was torn apart when he was cast from Heaven. It's a mission I haven't wavered from, not even when the humans tore open the gates and
unleashed Hell on earth.
Now, I've never been closer to obtaining my goal yet I find myself risking it all because I cannot stay away from her, a human who may be the key to it all.

My Thoughts: Everyone and Everything Has A History

This is not my first novel or novella written by Michael Cash, so I've come to know his style of writing. That being stated the story does start off slow and a bit confusing but it all has a "Major" point. Infusing a life lesson into supernatural situation lends to a Twilight Zone kind of storyline.
Awakening with the mother of all hangover, Amanda Greene finds herself in her dorm room but not. Everything looks similar but different, her room mate is a stranger and she can't recall much from the night before. All Amanda can remember is that she had a bad fight with her boyfriend, Patrick, and that she drank waaay too much. Amanda finds herself heading to her first class and realizes its History 101, a class she purposeful did not signup for. Feeling stalked by a ominous shadow, she shakes off the sensation and heads to class. There in class she finds no one she knows and yet some seem odd familiar. It's there in the lecture Amanda learns her reality is not what it seems and history is more than a subject but something to learn from.
Overall, loved it. I'm a history nerd, so anything with history in it I tend to gravitate towards. This novella was crafted like a Twilight Zone episode, confusing then teaching with an ending that is okay but just what the story needed. That said I know people so often hate the subject of history and its saddening since everything has a history, heck two seconds ago is history, so to dislike or disregard its importance in everyone's life has always made me worry for our world's future. So I love how well Mr. Cash intertwined history into helping Amanda recall her own history. So if you are looking for a short supernatural read involving a college girl trying to piece together her existence and figure out where she is before its too late, this book is worth a read.

My Thoughts: SEERiously Great Series!

This series is a great addition to the literary world filled with humorous characters, great dialogue, and impactful messages weaved into the plot. The author, Amy Reece, kept the characters age appropriate but mature, a balance which is hard to do when writing Y.A. characters who grow into N.A. age that tackle problems befitting their ages. Each book has a great plot structure to ensure character growth and helped readers stay interested through the entire series wanting nothing but that wonderful HEA.
Plagued with a realistic vision during class, Ally Moran is rescued by Jack Ruiz the quiet bad boy and recent transfer student, who offers to take Ally to the nurse. Ally knows her family comes from a line of gifted females coming from Ireland, but none have ever had such vivid and physically taxing visions. Ally decides that it’s her duty to help those her gift decides to show her in need of help. Jack now a fixture in her life helps keep her sane and safe as Ally helps those she can with her gift. Later it’s discovered that the reason Ally is so powerful is because she maybe the Oracle. Having a possible new destiny leads her to new problems, relationships and situations. Ally travels to new places like France and Ireland to learn who she really is, but most importantly to help everyone she can without a second thought to herself.
Overall, I loved this series and enjoyed reading the journey of Ally Moran growing from high schooler to adult. Every couple in the book grew in such a sweet way that had me cry happy tears in the end. Jack and Ally's relationship was just too beautiful, especially when they take in Jack’s little sister Megan. Ally by far is one of my favorite contemporary heroines, she is smart, witty, powerful and not afraid of her flaws or the unknown future. Amy Reece gave girls a female character to admire and learn from. It’s a bittersweet fact that the series is over, but I’m so happy to have found these books and author and can re-read them whenever I want too. So if you want to read a series about seers, prophecies, love, and family all surrounding one girl and her fate who insists on saving everyone she can, then try this series.

Now be forewarned listed below are each books descriptions none are too revealing BUT still read at your own risk. I dare ya!
