*synopsis*
#Holiday Givers gonna give…
Twas the night of game day,
And all through the town,
Lacey glittering snowflakes fluttered around.
They clung to the roads, concealing everything with white.
It was a beautiful #holiday sight.
The paparazzi were out without any care,
In hopes to catch Romeo and Rimmel, rumored to be there.
When out on the road there arose such a clatter.
The Hellcat spun out, but it shouldn’t matter.
I pulled out my cell to dial in a flash.
But the battery was dead. What useless trash.
The moonlight glistening on the new fallen snow
Made us forget we needed a tow.
For the season was upon us. Our family was alight.
Our #holiday was destined to be merry and bright.

"This is my holiday card to all of you. A thank you for all the love and support you have shown the Hashtag series. What better way to spend the holiday season than with Rome, Braeden, Rimmel and Ivy!"

My Thoughts:  Emotional-Action Packed Coming of Age Novel.

Right from the beginning this book had me in tears, the main character is so young facing such terrible loss and situations that no one should endure. It's through the entire story that the author has her character grow-up into a strong female who instead of cowering in fear of her attacker, fights back to live the life she's always dreamt of, full of love, family and friends.
Growing up all over Europe, 15 yr old Magdalene "Maggie" Curran, is sent to a private boarding school in Virginia for the first time as young high school freshman. Up until then Maggie's life had been just her and her loving parents living around Europe and her mothers home country of Spain. Then tragedy befalls her parents leaving Maggie an orphan in a new country. However, it's then that Maggie finds she is not truly alone as her best friend Graham Ashford steps in to be with her night and day. Over the next years Maggie grows up and finds out what falling in love is like, but she also finds out the dangerous side of "love" when obsession is mixed in. The brother of her new best friend/roommate during Maggie's junior year becomes a violent stalker with his sole intent on making Maggie only his; so to truly escape him Maggie knows she must make a clean break and return to Spain. While in Spain, Maggie enrolls in the university of University of Malaga, and begins searching for her mother's family. Her time in Spain leads to a reunion with a family she never thought she'd find and a new relationship she'd only dreamed of, the only thing is her past is still haunting her present and if she wants a future Maggie will need to decide to take flight or fight.
Overall, I liked the book. The main character is definitely a strong female despite everything that occurred to her, Maggie in the end came out stronger than ever. There are only a few things which could deter ones love for the book. The writing style of the book is more like a movie script or screen play than a contemporary novel; however, if the reader takes into account the perspective which isn't always told from one character but from the narrator writing Maggie's story over a span of years. Which is how Maggie can begin the book at 15 and end the story in her early twenties. Plus without this format a reader wouldn't experience the awesome imagery of Spain or spy like scene near the end. Now I will admit I did feel a disconnect at times with Maggie and the characters, as if I was only reading their story not experiencing the moment with them, perhaps due to so little dialogue included. Another thing was the ending, it went from Maggie managing her problems and living life to the movie "Taken" or "Lara Croft" in 5 seconds flat. I loved the scene, but it was like "where did this come from?" kind of feeling. I'd love to read more on Maggie, especially if the story entails Super Spy Maggie from the latter part of the book. In truth the author could have spliced up the book and made two parts, maybe three, with how much goes on in Maggie's life. So if you are looking to read a book about a young woman who despite all the heartbreak she endures decides to venture out on her own to find a place to call home and look for a family to love, but is still wrapped up in danger before she can find peace and chooses to take a final stand for life and true happiness, than this book may just be a good read for you.

Great Cover Upgrade, Right?

 Spotlight Saturday review: Click Here**

The whole series received a cover make over before the 3rd novel was released. However, the original book is the one I still own and love. It's the one that started it all for me and I shall never delete it! Now I will admit I have re-bought the first and second books for aesthetic sake, but I will always have a soft spot for the original covers.

"Wed's Wonderings & Wanderings": Oh, To Have A Fall!

This past weekend me and the class I help out in took a field trip to a pumpkin patch. In SoCal Fall is hard to notice since we don't have a weather change. The official day of Fall on the calendar is my birthday September 23rd, but in SoCal it's really marked by the release of the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks.
Anyways, the pumpkin patch is one of my favorite places to visit this time of year, because I can pretend it's Fall with out the threat of winter on the horizon. Except for the fact it was blazing hot this past weekend while we were tramping around looking for the perfect pumpkins the field trip was great. The girls had so much fun and I had a blast taking shots of pumpkin after pumpkin.
If you've never been to a pumpkin patch I'd highly suggest you do. They usually have more attractions than just grabbing a pumpkin and that makes the place worth the money and time. So try to look for a place with not just pumpkins available, see if they have tractor rides or a corn maze too. The corn maze is fun, I just wouldn't venture inside one alone in the dark.

So have a ball y'all while it's still Fall!

How do you say no when it simply feels so right?

My Thoughts: Wholesome Head Case Meets Secretly Kindhearted Manwhore Jock
The fact Erin Leigh (Tara Brown) was able to put two opposites together and yet have them each be still down to earth so that readers can love with them is a testament to how great of a writer she is! The characters are a great combo of witty and sexy, leaving you laughing one minute and swooning the next.
Deciding to move out on her own, twenty two year old, Natalie 'Nat' Banks, can't wait to begin her new job and life away from her overprotective parents. After settling in she finds that the roommate she was setup to have via her best friend Sami isn't actually a girl named BJ, but is a rising hockey player named Brady "BJ" Coldwell. Now Brady too is shocked to find his roommate is not a nerdy tech guy, but is a hot woman he knows would be a bad idea to hook up with. The problem for Brady is the more he gets to know Nat the more he finds he likes her and not just in a quickie sort of way. The attraction for both of them is obvious but their living situation makes them think things through. Especially when Brady is known for being a manwhore no dating kind of guy and Nat is dating her on and off again very wealthy boyfriend her mother insist is her future husband. With all of Nat and Brady's baggage, they realize if they start something their statuses as of roommate may not last.
Overall, Loved It! Ugh Erin Leigh seriously too funny! I absolutely LOVE Nat she is like my heroine, she owned her life and made it what she wanted despite all the crap that came, including the fact she can't cook (which is totally me, I'm the one who over boils water). Sami and Nat's friendship is to die for, the way they act is basically me and my friends minus the drinks and cash, cause we broke. Anyways, Brady too is a hot catch the way Erin wrote him, he's a passionate athlete, who can cook and bake, score ladies right there! Now as for Brady and Nat, they were just too cute and sexy as a couple, and their relationship progressed in a really comfortable way. Which made me happy because I feared we'd have that whole drama just for the sake of drama towards the end for that dramatic breakup-ish moment, but instead the end was completed in a nice way, I want more not gonna lie. Truthfully, I want a Sami and Matt book now, it'd definitely give readers a chance to see more of Brady and Nat in the future. So if you are into stories where a girl is just herself working and living life and happens to share an apartment with a hot guy that she nabs despite himself not wanting to be nabbed, than this book is totally worth a read.

    Author Bio:
Erin Leigh is the romantic,
safe side of the dark mind inside of international bestselling author, Tara Brown.
Erin is a hot fudge sundae and warm blanket on movie night sort of girl. She likes horses and thinks she should have some, but hates the smell of horse poo. In fact she doesn't imagine having a small farm would be very easy.
She likes gentlemen and courtesy and old traditions.
She likes to see people grow, become something worthy of the person they love.
She wants to be a writer like Jane Austen and Henry James.
She wants to write pretty prose and lure you down the path covered in rose petals.
But she can't.
Because at the end of the path is Tara Brown and she doesn't like rose petals or easy love. Down that path the wind picks up and the petals blow away and the forest gets eerie.
As a result this is not your grandma's romance.
It's the best Tara Brown could do with what she has, a dark heart.

My Thoughts: Who Is She And What Is She?

This story was definitely a mix of hunger games meets divergent. Based in an alternate reality the author wrote a fictional narrative involving aliens that mirrored contemporary history and dystopian possibilities. Definitely a book that will leave you thinking things over long after you've finished reading.
Two hundred years after the Great Disaster, The world is facing an overpopulation problem and doesn't half enough land after the massive earthquakes that ravaged the planet, leaving only 3 continents. Readers are introduced to a young Mirabella "Mira" Foster, who lives a simple ordinary life with her parents in New America. Until one day her father shows her he has blue markings all over him, which signifies he is not human but an alien called a Changer. Spurred by panic the community of Changers are forced to explain themselves as the markings where starting to be believed to be a disease. Mira is elated to witness her father and her friends Cole and Luxxe's dads represent their race to the president. But events go horribly wrong and and assassination attempt is made being blamed on the Changers. Soon the Changers are rounded and placed on an island alone to live as away from humans. It's not until Mira is offered a chance to prove her father's innocence and gain Changers freedom that Mira has to make the hard decisions.
Overall, good read which got me thinking and got a few tears. Not gonna lie this book really had me thinking more in a history kinda way than literature perspective. The Changers are rounded up and put in an island to basically die, and all I could think of was the holocaust. Perhaps the way the New America carried their plan out and how the Changers were marked like the Jews had been, the situation just clicked. Besides all that, the relationship drama in this book was interesting, because I assumed Mira was going to fall for her hot BFF, Luxxe,  but she didn't. In fact the author repeatedly made sure everyone understood they were just best friends. That's a huge rarity in any book since 90% of the time male - female best friends in books always admit attraction or end up together, so props to showing that doesn't always have to happen. However, down side was it was extremely repetitive on relationship status for everyone, when I felt as if the focus needed to remain on the politics, schemes and such. So if you are into dystopian worlds where people are separated for being a different people group and then fight back to be accepted all the while the characters try to figure out who they are and who they want to be with and where they want to live, than this might be a good book to try.
